13 straight (and counting) for the Dragons
There’s domination, and then there’s Dallas softball domination.
Dallas routed visiting South Albany 18-0 on Monday, and then provided the Woodburn nine with a similar thrashing, 17-0, on Wednesday.
With the wins, the top-ranked Dragons improved their record to 6-0 in Mid-Willamette Conference play, 13-0 overall. They remain the top-ranked Class 5A team in the state.
More startling, however, is that Dallas has outscored its conference opponents 79 to 2 in those games.
“We have a very good conference and take every day, one day at a time,” said coach Brandi Jackson on her team’s success so far.
On Monday, Dallas starting pitcher Kadence Morrison went the distance to get the win. She notched five strikeouts.
Morrison also did damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and double. Kaitlyn Brian blasted a two-run home run in the second inning.
Teammates Madi Ruman added three RBS, two hits and one run scored. While Grace Walls, Kaelyn Golden, Brook Dunkin and Ava Woods each had one hit.
The girls are at fourth-ranked Lebanon (4-1, 9-4 overall) on Friday and then hosts Central/Falls City (0-5, 6-7 overall) on Monday. Games begin at 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
