Whiskey River sets high bar for 2024 concert series

It doesn’t get better than Friday’s performance by Whiskey River, one of the country’s best Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute bands.

Seattle’s very own performed in the inaugural performance of the 2024 River’s Edge Series in Independence. Next up on Friday is Idle Poets at 6 p.m. and Jennifer Batten & Fullsteam at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.

Whiskey River consists of Rob “Rockfish” Oxford (lead vocals), “JC” Johnny Cat Passarelli (lead guitars), Tommy Steinley (lead guitars), “JT” Joe Turnbull (keyboards), Marc Montagnino (drums/vocals), Mary Marchese (backup vocals), Dee Lawless (backup vocals) and Bill Majkut (bass).

Passarelli, Turnbull, Steinley, Montagnino and Majkut have been with the band since the beginning, some 42 years ago.
