Wolves clip Nighthawks, notch first conference win
Cali McClave reached 1,000 career points as the Wolves pushed past Northwest Nazarene 78-74 on Saturday night at the New Physical Education Building.
With 7.2 seconds left in the second quarter, Cali McClave knocked down a free throw to reach 1,000 career points.
The Wolves (4-5 overall, 1-1 GNAC) entered the second half up 37-32 and found a third-quarter spark from Ally Harman. Harman knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers, sandwiched between a steal, to put the Wolves up by 10 points.
The Wolves held off a 32-point fourth-quarter by the Nighthawks (4-5, 1-1) to earn their first win in conference play.
McClave scored a team-high 20 points, adding six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Bella Pedrojetti added 17 points, making a season-high three 3-pointers. Triniti Youngblood had a team-high four steals while she and Kiylynn Dawkins each scored 12 points.
The Wolves play again at 2 p.m., Saturday, against Oregon Tech at the NPE Building.
